SWEDEN in February…

Dh will be working in Sweden for a month in February. I work in a primary school so am considering flying out to join him for a few days during my half term week.
He will be working in Falun.

I have never been to Sweden. Any suggestions of must-visits and must-sees?
Would love to see the Northern Lights but won’t have enough time to travel too far North.

Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks in advance 😊

Its shockingly expensive, but really nice place, only spent a short time there so sorry can't recommend anything.

No worries, thank you 😊
Yes, I fear taking out a second mortgage may be a necessity!

The most obvious destinations would be Uppsala and Stockholm, but Falun looks to be quite far from both. You’ll see lots of red-painted houses in Sweden. That red is ‘Falun’ red.

Will be quite miserable, cold and dark. I would go to Stockholm probably, it's about 3 hours but lots to see - old town, palace, Vasa museum is also interesting.

I am very worried about miserable and cold and dark….
On the other hand, I do want to go. But maybe I’d be better postponing until summer? ( although dh wont be there by then)

We've been a couple of times in the summer but one time combined with Copenhagen and another with Norway. Stockholm is nice but doubt weather will be, otherwise its quite rural we found in that area. We stayed at Norranges Alpaka an alpaca hotel which was great. There were some wildlife things like brown bears (see Wild Sweden) but think they start from end of April. Wasn't that much in the area at Norranges, think a silver mine. We did not find it too expensive but went on to Norway and anywhere seems good value after Norway. Found it similar to London prices.
