Let's assume it's all the same in October will $375 be enough for food at least for two people?

We've already sorted attractions and one broadway show and I would have thought that amount would be fine but I've seen loads of posts saying that America is really expensive now and I don't want be stuck sort of thing so was just wondering if someone could advise.

Hotel is 5 minutes away from Times Square and around a few attractions already so not sure how many Ubers we'd need but just in a general sense is $375 doable a day?

I don't understand what you're asking. Are you asking whether $375 will be enough for only food, for two people, per day? If so then the answer is that amount will feed you for several days! But it depends. If you want to go to posh restaurants for breakfast lunch and dinner, may be not.

Yes sorry bit sleep deprived and not making sense.

I guess I mean is $375 enough for everything everyday for two people except attractions and a broadway show so for food and Ubers I guess - I thought it was more than enough really but just got a bit worried with all the posts saying the USA is really expensive atm so panicked a bit and thought I'd ask.

But I guess like you said posh restaurants are gonna cost more but looking on YouTube there seems to be a few cheap eats that'll see us through.

Thank you for your reply.

I thought putting " is $375 doable a day" meant the same thing as per day Blush apologies!

That's good, maybe I was over estimating how much I'd need - it's just with everyone says it's gotten so much more expensive I thought I'd need more.

I was there early December for a few days, I believe that’s more than enough for food and Uber!

Sorry to derail - for those who've been to NY recently - is it OK to just take credit cards or is cash accepted? I'm thinking of tipping and street food /stall etc?

thunderstruckk · 16/01/2023 13:22

Definitely take some cash for tips if you can PP - housekeeping / taxis / coffees etc is easier imo in cash. Everything else can tip on your card!

I think £375 would be doable if you're eating in normal places (recommend juniors at Times Square for all meals - such good food!). I think we spent about 6k in 5 days but we did shopping too and had a few fancier meals. You'll be fine! Enjoy 😊

Pansypotter123 · 16/01/2023 13:41

@thunderstruckk many thanks!!

There’s no doubt it’s expensive but 375 will be plenty. I found it really expensive for alcohol so if you are planning on drinking a lot then it would start to rack up fast. Glass of wine average $16 for example then add a tip. Lots of good value places to eat though and plenty happy hours about. Time Out market in Brooklyn and Chelsea Market both really worth a visit.

and yes cash is taken-handy for tips and small purchases from carts etc.
