Lanzarote, no idea!

Looking for advice/opinions on Lanzarote for end of June....

I've never been to Lanza or anywhere even like it. We've usually taken the children to the South of France, the Italian lakes etc, in mobile home parks, plus a couple of AI type resorts in different places.

We're on a small enough budget this year and people keep recommending Lanzarote, specifically puerto del carmen? I'm told that apartments can be very reasonable and eating/drinking/activities are pretty cheap.

We are two adults, two teens, and twin 6 year old girls. Any advice/experience of Lanzarote that time of year and prices would be great.
Thanks

I love Lanzarote, having been numerous times over the last 40 odd years but for me it's mainly been an off season holiday when I can't get warmth elsewhere without going long haul. We go Dec and April and have a heated pool which you need then. June will probably be quite hot and the days long. Wind is a hit and miss thing.
We moved on from PdC many, many years ago, way too busy for us. We stay in a villa just outside Playa Blanca and that suits us. There is also Costa Teguise or for surfer vibe, Playa Famara. Probably the most upmarket resort is Puerto Calero which is small but nice and quite close to PdC if you want to be in the heart of the action.

There are a number of sites worth seeing, Timanfaya National Park, Jameos del Agua, El Golfo, Teguise old Town, Mirador del Rio etc but you'll need a car unless you want to join a coach trip.

There are a couple of water parks in PB and I'm pretty sure there's at least one in PdC.

Is there any reason OP as it's June you would go there over say Majorca or menorca- ?? I can see why people go spring and autumn for a good chance of some sun- but not really when it's almost peak season elsewhere. Why not go to Puerto pollensa or Cala D'or or paguera say- much nicer imo

If you're looking for a lace to stay in Playa Blanca, I can recommend the Vik Coral Beach.

We're in Puerto Calero at the minute. It's beautiful, in a villa with our own pool. We have 3 adult children (18-23) and that's what they love. DH and I went to puerto del carmen today and found a lovely beach for a paddle

Surprised by people saying Lanzarote will be hot. I was there in August last year and temperatures were ideal for me. The wind kept the temperatures to mid 20s and it was cool in the mornings and evenings. Perfect swimming and sunbathing weather but not too hot for walking around.

If you have never been to the Canaries be prepared to be shocked on your journey from the airport. My first thoughtd were we were on a slag heap. Looks very desolate. But, the resorts are very well kept. Do not miss going to the volcanic park. In fact, do it as early in your holiday as possible to give you a view of the geology of the island. It is absolutely incredible. When you have your chicken at tge top of the volcano, cooked on a barbeque over a small vent, so cooked over the hot lava, it is mind blowing. It really came over to me when I finished eating, picked my bag off the floor, and it was hot.it was then I realised I was sat on top of an active volcano. PdC is a good tourist resort with all the facilited you want, close to the airport, but do get out and about and see a really alien landscape. Its fascinating.
