End of August - up to 10days, budget £3-£4K.

2 adults. DC13, DC11, DC18mo.

We would like to take our children abroad for the first time. We aren't massive sun seekers but like the breeze of a coastal town / village. Our older children would absolutely love to go on a plane. Culture / sightseeing mixed in with child friendly activities would be really lovely. I'm not sure all inclusive will suit us, but to be honest we just don't really have a clue.

A villa with a pool with local (walkable) cafe / shop / amenities would be the dream. If we didn't have to hire a car that would be really, really handy.

MN travellers, please can you help?

Spain is a great option for easy flights, good weather and a low cost holiday. You'd get quite a fabulous villa with that budget in the south of Spain.

Somewhere in Spain could be lovely? Alicante / Denia area? A nice villa (james villas etc) with a pool, trips to the nearby towns for meals in the evening etc. The weather would be good, the flights aren't too long and the place is lovely.

If you're looking at booking separately and keen to stay on budget, I would start with Skyscanner and put in the airport you want to fly from and put Europe as the destination. It'll then narrow down the cheapest airports to go.

You can then use Trivago or similar to Map search within a certain distance of airports.

I agree with others that Spain is always a safe bet!

a holiday park like eurocamp? like Park Playa Bara (between barcelona and tarragona). lot's of roman ruins to visit plus barcelona.
great beach, but also great pool available.
lit's to do for teens.

Somewhere like Sitges (just south of Barcelona), should work. Lots of flights, not too long, plenty to do, theme park nearby, culture, beach, etc. You could easily get flights and either an apartment or a couple of rooms in a hotel (not a top end one), in Aug for your budget.

Oh wow - thank you all so much for taking the time to reply. I'm going to have a look at all the suggestions so far - it's a relief to know that this may well be feasible, we've been saving for so long ☺️

Sorry - theme park (PortAventura) is actually in Salou, not Sitges. Either town would work for a family holiday though.

You can book a package, if you prefer to do that OP. I just had a quick look on Tui, putting in your details, and it came up with lots of packages for flights, transfer and either apartment or hotel in the £3-4k bracket.

Thank you all so much - again, for such a fantastic array of ideas. @Cancersurvivor I have messaged you - we were very tempted with Cyprus (and Spain) when looking at pictures so your personal recommendation couldn't be more welcome, thank you. ☺️
