Croatia & Slovenia summer

Hi

We are planning to do Slovenia and Croatia this summer but thinking of the logistics. Should we fly to Slovenia and return from Croatia? We are planning to rent a car as we like to explore. Or should we fly and return from the same country? Can we drive between Croatia and Slovenia or will it be better an internal flight and another car rental?

Driving would make more sense. I know someone who drives to Croatia from Germany - the distances are short.

Thank you. I think we still need to fly from London either to Slovenia or Croatia. Ideally just rent one car to drive between those places.

where should we based ourselves in both countries that is easy to explore the scenery, beaches, points of interest?
