Where is Asia for Christmas?

Hi all,

Looking to head away for Christmas this year but can't decide on a twin city break.

We'd like to spend a couple of nights exploring a city then head to a beach resort.

Direct flights from London to the city then a connecting flight to the beach is fine.

So far I was thinking of flying into Kuala Lumpur, Singapore or Bangkok but not sure where to go for the beach element.

Suggestions greatly welcomed.

To me Bangkok's sights are far more interesting than KL or Singapore, stay on the Chao Phraya river and get the local boats up and down to see the sights for next to nothing. Just be aware of the local tuk tuk scams saying things aren't open and wanting to take you elsewhere.

There are loads of beach options Hua Him (not my fave but a lot of others seem to like it) Ko Samui and that area, Phuket/Krabi and that area or along the coast to Trat area near the Cambodia border (probably a lot less touristy if that appeals) or if you want close to Bangkok then Ko Samet.

I haven't been for years now, hope to get back soon.

We have done KL, penang and langkawi (all in malaysia) and all so vastly different.
