We are having trouble deciding where to go on our first holiday with our baby who will be 11 months when we plan to go (late May or early June this year). We have an Easyjet voucher to use and want flights from Luton so Menorca, Majorca or Chania (Crete) look like good options for flight times. Willing to hire a car while there but don't want to be driving every day.
Pre-baby we usually stay in fairly simple accommodation and spend most of our days either at the beach (prefer a beautiful beach over a pool any day) or sightseeing and only use the room to sleep. With a baby we are thinking a hotel with a nice pool so at least one of us can swim if we need to spend some down time for baby naps. Would prefer somewhere smaller and more personal than the large all inclusives and definately don't need kids club, water slides, entertainment etc.
Does any place exist that meets these requirements (or most of them):
- Close to a sandy beach with shallow water. On the beach would be perfect but seems hard without going for the large all inclusives.
- Pleasant town for strolling around. Pushchair friendly.
- Close to good restaurants or hotel with decent food. An apartment style room with basic kitchen (or just a microwave) would be useful but I don't want to have to cook on holiday if possible other than preparing some food for our baby. Would consider half-board if the food was good but also happy going to local restaurants (might depend on whether our baby can sleep in the pram at that point).
- Not too busy or not too much of a package holiday atmosphere. Not super built up.
Specific hotel recommendations would be great or even just which resort town would suit us.
