Car seat with car hire Bordeaux

Looking in to car hire but have our 4yo DC who will need a car seat. Is it better to take his with us (isofix) or get one from the car hire? I'm a bit anal about car seats and still have him in a 5 point harness. Given it'll be both mine and DHs first time driving abroad I'm even more twitchy. Do they provide good car seats, or are we best taking our own? Any companies better to use?

If anyone's done eurocamp in St. Avit Loisirs too and has any tips before we book they'd also be very welcome!

Having seen how car seats are stored in car hire places and the state of some offered (we ended up going to buy a new one instead) I would say definitely take your own

Take yours. You're very unlikely to get a five point harness seat for a 4yo, probably a backless booster. Which is a joke because you could buy one in a supermarket for half the cost of hiring it!

If you don't want to take yours look at Cosi n safe Hudson. It's Isofix and top tether but all hire cars will be new models so that isn't an issue.

Have you looked at driving your own car over? Sometimes it can work out cheaper to do this than book flights, hire car etc and it means you'll have your own seat and not have to worry about it being damaged in the plane hold.

Thanks all, that's confirmed it for me. We'll take DCs car seat over with us. Had a look and I think our airline allows us to take it for free.

Unfortunately we can't take the family car abroad as it's a company car and mine is too small but definitely would have been preferable.

given some of the ones we’ve seen, definitely take your own! Even a cheap but known to you backless booster would be a lot better and safer than some of the options given to us.

@Ahugwilldonicely have you been on your holiday yet?

We've just booked this camp for August - keen to hear anyones experiences!

@Ahugwilldonicely Apologies, I see your original post was only last week Blush
