Best location/resort for smaller children

Looking for advice here! I have two DS, aged 4 & 8. We’ve never been on holiday outside the Uk before as we haven’t had the money! But this year we have been able to save some funds so I’d like to treat us all. Does anyone have any good recommendations on where to take smaller children - good locations/resorts. I’ve heard good things about Cyprus & Portugal. Ideally somewhere that’s not long haul but has a nice mix of culture/beach/kiddies things, like a water park perhaps

Not somewhere super busy, not interested in nightlife.

We liked Santa Eulalia in Ibiza. Lovely beach, warm sea, cafes and restaurants and regular boats to other nearby resorts and Ibiza Old town. We’ve also been to Puerto Pollensa in Majorca which is loved on MN - this was good too but preferred SE.

Can’t comment on Cyprus or Portugal as haven’t been.

We loved Cala bona in Mallorca with our 1 year old we went in may and returned again for another week in September as we enjoyed it so much

stayed in a protour sort hotel and it had amazing facilities for small kids and the town is very quiet and relaxed

flights short too

We used to take DC to Brittany at that age. Lots to see and do as well as lovely beaches. Some have play areas too.

Yes I’ve heard good things about Majorca too

Another recommending Majorca.

As well as reports mentioned above look up Santa Ponsa. Lovely quiet bay and lots to do locally as well.

I've booked to go to Magic Natura in Spain with my sister and niece this year. I saw it mentioned on here before and the reviews seemed good, so thought I would give it a go!

It's a combination water park/wildlife park and is about 20 mins from the beach.

I live in carvoeiro in the Algarve, it’s very popular with families. It’s a small village but with plenty of shops and restaurants and a water park about 5 minutes by car.

We love Antalya in Turkey, amazing for kids (mine are 3 and 4) and short transfer time

Rocha Brava in Carvoiero, Algarve

When mine were little we went to Forte Village in Sardinia a few years in a row-extra good if your DC like sport as there are lots of activities as well as a fantastic kids club, separate kids restaurant if they want to eat early and a little train goes round the resort to collect the DC for the kids club!

Also went to Vila Vita Parc in Portugal which was a bit mixed in our experience.

*Forte Village on the beach and lots of pools as well
