Portugal Easter time

We’re looking at booking our first holiday this Easter with our then 15mo. We both work in schools so tend to go off the beaten track and stay in air bnbs (southern Germany has been a fave the last few years). We’re looking at Portugal but would rather not stay in a resort hotel. We’re not really in to lying around a pool. Any ideas of places/accommodation with not a massive transfer time and ok for pushing a buggy around.

I appreciate that we might struggle to have what we had before 😆

Can I suggest just over the border into the “Spanish Algarve”?
We own a property in Isla Canela and we also spend quite a bit of time in Bavaria and love both. They are different but have a similar vibe
Easter in Ayamonte (main town there) and the surrounding area is quite a big deal culturally and there are parades etc

I haven't travelled much in Portugal but Porto is rather lovely for wandering and having dinner by the river. Are you looking for a beach holiday though?

Another vote for Porto. It's 40 minutes (on a train) from the airport (€2 each) but a taxi will only set you back around €25. Central Porto is quite hilly BUT the trams are cheap and buggy friendly, the waterfront is obviously flat and if you find accomodation along the waterfront towards the sea (look for Ouro or Bairro da Rainha D. Leonor neighbourhoods) this will give you easy access to the beach as well as the town, nice flat areas (with children's play areas) along the waterfront with some nice restaurants too. Possible day trips include Aveiro (really recommended - and flat! If you get up early you should be able to fit in a visit to the nearby very pretty Costa Nova - 30 mins on the bus). Some of the options listed here can be accessed by public transport from Porto - others will need a car to make it possible as a day trip.

Happy to answer further questions if you want to give more detail of what you're looking for.
