We're looking at having 2 weeks in Croatia this summer. Has anyone got any top tips / must dos / accommodation suggestions/ car hire / itineraries etc that I could use to help plan our trip?

Rovinj and Split are both lovely, but in very different parts of the country!
If you are looking at visiting several places, think about doing your transfers by boat.

We went to Brac. Was fab. Amazing water to swim in. Good food. So bloody hot though
You must take water shoes as most/all beeches we visited were pebbly

I've been to Rovinj and Porec and loved them both. Will definitely be returning.

Yes, did a week in summer and had the best holiday exploring both Croatia and Slovenia. Definitely hire a car to explore, we got a smallish one which was great as city roads can be tight. We stayed in Split for first few days before moving around. This was our itinerary for ideas:
Day 1 Split Pick up car (https://www.oryx-rent.hrr_) that allows cross border.
Evening out in Split - Diocletian’s Palace - Riva waterfront, Majan Hill
Day 2
After breakfast drive to Mostar located in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Park car.
Walking tour of the city, stroll through the old town with its bazaar, see the original Ottoman residential houses, mosques and the Old bridge. Back to Split for evening
Day 3
Walk to Split Ferry port – get catamaran boat to Hvar or Vis Island for the day.
Day 4
Drive to Plitvice Lakes area. 2.5h drive to Plitvicee_ lakes, arrive around lunchtime
Day 5
Depart morning to Postojna caves, stop to view Otocec castle on the way, 3 hr –
Postojna Cave is the best-known cave in the world. It is also the greatest tourist attraction in Slovenia and one of the world's largest karst monuments. The tour inside caves takes 1,5 hour and closes at 6pm.

Also: castle Predjamski Grad, closes at 7pm.
40 min drive to Ljubljana, stay overnight
Day 6
Morning: do Ljubljana city walk (option of 2hr walking tour at 10am), Afterwards depart for Lake Bled, - 45 min drive - stop in Radovljica for lunch at Lectar (very famous there and the village known for apiculture museum just by that restaurant). Continue to Lake Bled for whole afternoon.
Day 7
Julian Alps, lake Bohinjj, National Park Triglavv where you can see fabulous gorge is also part of Julian Apls. Entrance to this park is just 20 minutes from every hotel in Bledd_
