Athens question?

Hi all, going to Athens in feb for a few days with a friend. Really looking forward to it- however friend has quite a bad phobia of dogs, not so much when they’re on a lead, but more let loose.

Ive been researching Athens and people have said there is a real bad wild dog problem. Is that the case? Has anyone had any experience of this?

Was in Athens last year in October - never saw a wild dog at all in the 3 days we were there. Out in the countryside we did see some (not sure if they were wild or just slightly neglected) but none in the city.

We were in Athens a couple of months ago and didn’t see any stray dogs either though I do remember reading about them and being concerned before we went.
We stayed close to the centre and wandered around for a week with no problems at all - Athens really exceeded my expectations in lots of ways!
