Taking own car seat abroad

Question for parents who take their own car seat on holidays. This might be a silly question but do you take the isofix base and the seat with you and what do you do with the seat when you get off the taxi and go for dinner or explore? We have Maxicosi Pearl 360 and it cannot be used with just a seatbelt. We are going to Gran Canaria in few days and we pre booked taxi with car seat for the airport transfers. We want to do some day trips by taxi but this means we will have to find one with car seat each time. Our daughter is 16 months. I had a thought that maybe buying a cheap second hand seat and taking with us might be an option but what would we do with the seat once we arrive at our day trip destination?

At 16 months she might still just about fit into a larger infant carrier, what about taking something like Joie Juva? Or see if anyone you know has an old Maxi Cosi Cabriofix (has to be the old style as they were huge). They are a bit smaller and easier to carry around with you when you get to your destination than toddler seats.

I wouldn't personally take an expensive everyday seat because I would be worried about it getting damaged in the plane hold.

BabyAuto sell cheap seats in the supermarkets in Spain which might also be fine for holiday use, although still quite bulky to carry around.

Legally you can take her in a taxi without car seat but obviously if you crashed she would not be safe.
