All inclusive within walking distance of town?

Ideally I would like an all nclusive holiday next summer abroad, but it has to be within walking distance of a town / harbour / centre with shops and restaurants. A sandy beach is a must. Ideally mainland Spain or the Balearics so we can benefit from a short flight with a 3 and 8 year old.

Before kids, DH and I never did all inclusive and preferred to eat out and enjoy wandering around in the evening. Better than being constrained to the hotel which we found a bit frustrating in the summer just gone as nothing was outside the hotel. However, it was a godsend for the kids with cold drinks and snacks on tap all day, and an on-site water and splash park.

Does such a hotel exist near a town so we can also go out in the evenings?

Isn’t the point of AI that you don’t need to go off campus??

Anyway Domes Resorts in Greece or Spain might fit the bill

Just because you stay in an AI hotel, it doesn't mean that you have to stay in it all the time and not spend any money outside of it. I agree a lot of the AI hotels tend to have not much around them. One area though which is slightly longer flight is south Tenerife (Costa Adeje, etc). If you stay close to the beach promenade you should have a choice of places you can walk to.

Inturotel in cala d'or, Majorca would fit the bill. Right on a spectacularly beautiful beach that's very safe for children. Lovely town to wander around at night with a gorgeous marina. They also have outdoor fun parks and crazy golf etc. Went several times when mine were younger.

Marymary987 · 23/12/2022 23:28

Bonaire in Cala Bona, Majorca

tanstaafl · 24/12/2022 09:25

Zafiro tropic or Safire palace , alcudia, Mallorca ( is it frowned upon to say Majorca now?)

tanstaafl · 24/12/2022 09:25

Safire? Zafiro

Playa Mar and Spa hotel in Port de , Majorca. It’s 15 minutes walk along a lovely cobbled, beachside path to the centre of town. The first beach you come to outside the hotel is stone, but within 5 minutes it turns to sand. Resort was fab for kids.

*Port de Pollensa

I am off to research these suggestions now, thank you!

Zafiro Tropic, Port d’Alcudia, short walk from beach and short walk from Old Alcudia. Lovely children’s pool and better food that I’ve had at other all inclusives

Es Cana Ibiza has a few, also Tui Blue / Family Life in Port des Torrents Ibiza, are 10 mins walk to San Antonio or a water taxi ride. Both have beautiful beaches.

mincepiepie · 27/12/2022 12:33

Es Cana Ibiza is my favourite holiday resort. It's smallish with lots of bars and restaurants and so in. It's not tacky. Beautiful coves and beaches all around.

I stayed at the panorama which is now the allu soul. Slap bang in the centre of the resort. There's a port with ferried Santa Eulalia which is a small marina town.

Also liked alcudia in Mallorca and menorca has an abundance of beautiful resorts

We went to the TUI AI in Tossa de Mar in Spain, has a lovely old walled town. Hotel is on the outskirts. We also used public transport (bus and train) to get to Barcelona down the coast.

Startuplife · 28/12/2022 16:46

Portugal rather than Spain but we loved Pestana Blue Alvor which we booked through TUI. They have a private bridge to the beach which is accessed by your AI bracelet and the town is walking distance with a lovely little harbour and some brilliant restaurants.
Another plus is there’s no time difference.
