What is the weather generally like in the Dordogne in April?

I am mulling over the possibility of having a week in the Dordogne next April. Don't mind if it's not exactly warm, but if we're likely to get a week of rain I will knock the idea on the head now before I get carried away looking at all the lovely gites.
Anyone been there in April, or any other advice to add about the Dordogne at that time of year? Will all the attractions be open?

Thanks aznerak. Your parents' villa looks really lovely. I have my heart set on the Dordogne but I will bookmark your website for future reference.

Hi again

No probs - hope you find something in the Dordogne and the weather is kind. April is such a tricky month - just bear in mind the further south you go the better it'll be!

Good luck with your search

Thanks Tracey. Your villa looks fantastic. It's a bit bigger than we would require, I'm tempted to try and round up some friends!!

April is the one month that's so hard to predict but it won't be cold. We've been having glorious weather here for the past few weeks (just south of the Dordogne) and the kids are usually in the pool by April.

The French schools don't break up for Easter, holidays this year are in April and are staggered accross the country like the February skiing holiday so all attractions etc should be open by then.

Think of it as Devon in late June, that's about the best weather prediction I can manage. [hmmm]
