I'm looking for recommendations for a summer holiday destination with our turn just turned 3 year old. Ideally looking for somewhere gorgeous, such as France, countryside, or possibly coastal. Doesn't have to be France but that kind of thing. Somewhere we can explore on foot from our base, go for picnics and walks but also drive to local towns and possibly seaside.
We would love somewhere with self catering but also options for restaurants and obviously family friendly. Not a loud water park or butlins type thing though - more of a smaller scale thing. Ideally would love the chance to have a peaceful dinner with DH whilst LO is in bed so a babysitting service would be great, and possibly daytime children's play activity or crèche for the odd hour.
Somewhere with nice day trips within reach but a lovely location that you could equally spend the day there.
Not sure if my wish list is too long! I'm sure such places exist but I think they are hard to find through Googling alone, and recommendations would be great.
