6h plane journey with 18mo old- recommendations for toys & headphones?

Hi everyone,

we are due to take a 6h daytime flight in a few weeks with my baby who is 18 mo. I am really nervous as the last time she flew, she was much smaller.

does anyone know of headphones which are safe to use at this age? Mostly I’m seeing availability for kids 3+ only.

any recommendations for toys that will keep her focused on something while in a seat would be v welcome.

I’m interested in buying a seat extender and cozigo so that she can nap, but I’ve heard lots of airlines dont allow these anyway! No bassinet-type thing as it’s not long haul.

thanks very much in advance for all your ideas & recommendations!

Very few kids headphones will say that they’re suitable for children under 3, but the truth is that many of them are fine for younger children if used once in a blue moon. When we bought a pair for our toddler, we read the reviews to find ones which other parents had used on similar aged children (16mo) so we knew that they’d be small enough. We eventually got a pair of the Kidrox ones which seem comfortable and fit well.

My recommended toys for that age would be:
Sticklebricks
Toomies nesting eggs
Busy book
Aquadoodle travel mat
Beetoy buckle sensory pillow

Anything for 3+ will be volume limited, so is fine to use, just may be a slightly looser fit on a little head! We have these and no complaints from my 1YO:

Forget the seat extender, you’re unlikely to be allowed one. I take colouring, stickers, freezer bag of duplo, couple of toy cars, favourite soft toy for nap, snacks, more snacks, empty sippy cup to refill after security, more snacks again.

They provide the best for takeoff, headphones cannot be marked suitable for under 3's due to the parts but they are fine under supervision
