Planning a week in Spain with DM 74yrs plus four teenage girls in April. Looking for a villa somewhere near a beach and small town. Any suggestions please?

April the weather can be quite unreliable so if sun is important to you head as far south as you can and be prepared for mixed weather. Eg Easter this year in the Balearics was one week rain and cold, the second was shorts and t shirt. Generally pools are also only for the brave at this time of year. My kids go in but they look blue coming out! Personally I'd recommend Seville or Granada which are cities but might give you more with the weather. Plenty of things for all your age groups with beautiful buildings, great food and drink and you can get to the beach if the weather plays ball. Ronda is worth looking at if you want somewhere smaller but keep in mind you can still ski in April in the Sierra Nevada which is just north of Granada...so it's cold at night! If sun is important, May is far more reliable.

Weather around Gibraltar is normally lovely in April, so go south, Tarifa or Cadiz, Jerez, along the south west coast. They call it Costa de Luz. Seville is normally lovely then too.
