Destinations Holiday & Travel Show

Has anyone been in previous years? Is it any good if you have a vague interest in travelling more but don't necessarily have specific destinations in mind?

Wanderlust magazine have an offer for 2 free tickets, and DH has asked for a proper camera for Christmas, with a view to taking "better" photos when we go on holiday. The show also offers photography masterclasses which would be great, but only at the London Olympia venue.

My issue is that the trains to Olympia are more expensive than I thought, and the drive would probably be over 2 hours. What I was hoping would be a fairly inexpensive add on to his present is looking more problematic.

So I guess I'm asking people who have been previously whether it would be worth it?

I went quite a few years ago at the same venue. It was okay for somewhere to go - I was meeting a friend for the day - but am not sure as a special thing. Wasn't that much to interest me really.

I'd look for photography classes closer to home.

Don't know if it's the same thing, but we went to something like that at the O2.

Not too far for us, free tickets, but parking was something like £50 for a few hours !

It was hard-sell all the way - constantly harrassed/approached by people trying to get us into their booths.

We've been to similar events for Caravanning & Motorhoming and never experienced the hard sell, so I'd be surprised, but it might be like that I suppose. If the cost of the travel wasn't so high I wouldn't be worried. Thanks for the opinions 🙂
