I have never been and my daughter and I are considering going next May. We may bring friends/her boyfriend but essentially the advice I'm after from you wise MNs is location!
We definitely don't want San Antonio but we have a dreamy concept of the sunset vibe. I am a huge fan of Chicane, and electro/trance and have this vision of a soundtrack to our holiday but I want to avoid drunken hens/stags etc.
I'd be happy with AI or self catering, and also happy to hire a car.
Would be so grateful for your advice if you've done similar!
Many thanks in advance.

May is very early in the season but bars start opening late April so there will be things going on. I always recommend Santa Eulalia. It's a small town the opposite side to San An. Lots of Spaniards live there and some seriously nice hotels have opened up over the last 3 years. The sea front is great for walking along post dinner and there are great food and drink venues for all budgets. The beach isn't the most exotic but it's clean and safe. The marina is a great place to have a few drinks and people watch. Check out CBBC Santa Eulalia, Chiringuito Blue and the W Hotel to get an idea of the vibe. I love it as whilst it has some cool options like the above, it also is a Spanish working town, with "real people" going about their daily lives and therefore some great restaurants at reasonable prices. For a treat, check out Amante (Kylie had one of her launches here) and it's 10 minutes in a taxi. Ibiza town for a night and maybe hire a car to do a few beaches, you can see a lot that time of year with a car. Beaches: you might like Salinas for the music vibe.Hope this helps!
