We've not been abroad in years as I've not been well enough.
So I want this year to be perfect.

Looking for sunshine, sea, snorkelling.
Warm enough to swim but not super hot as ds1 struggles in the heat.
2 active teenagers
Also love cycling and hiking. And eating.

Would consider short or long haul.
Last trip abroad was Croatia which we loved.

Well anywhere in Europe is going to be hot in the summer. You're not being very specific.

What month are you looking at ?

Madeira! Lovely people, plenty of sun & lots to do.
Spotless everywhere. We love it.

What sort of duration and budget

If longer haul then Canada in summer is amazing and we loved the hiking ( Vancouver island was our fave perfect amount of coastline and great hiking trails ) Same with California plenty of spots to hike but also coast.

Europe you may not be able to guarantee it's not boiling in most places as last year was hot but I love the Greek islands all
So beautiful

Hawaii , has fairly consistent year round warm temp. Swimming, surfing, hiking etc... but expensive so depends on budget. Also Thailand, though it can get pretty hot some months of the year but its cheaper than some destinations and lots to do.

ShinyHatStand · 19/11/2022 21:35

Great suggestions. Thanks.
We're restricted to August so I agree that finding somewhere suitable in Europe that is not super hot will be tricky.
Budget? Haven't got a clue tbh. Been so long since we did this. But happy to pay out for long haul flights plus decently pricy accommodation given how cheap our recent trips staying with family have been.

Madeira looks amazing. Wasn't on my radar at all!

We went to Mauritius in the school summer holidays and had a fabulous time. It’s their winter so prices heaps cheaper, but avoid the East coast at that time of year as it’s so windy. The region around Le Morne has great snorkelling from the beach.

Temperatures were about 26/27 degrees so warm enough for swimming etc but not humid and felt really comfortable. We went for 14 nights and had two days of rain. The rest of the time was bright blue skies.

Prices were pre covid but all four of us cost £5,500 for the 14 nights, direct BA flights, in a five star all inclusive hotel. So much cheaper than going to the Med that time of year!!!

Bali and Lombok - but not theSouthern resorts of Bali, amazing snorkelling around Amed and over at the Gilis. You could do a hike and camp to Mount Rinjani in Lombok. Perfect weather in August too.

Thanks both. Mauritius was on my list but had seen mixed reports about weather that time of year. Might quiz a friend of mine who used to live there.

Bali sounds amazing. So much choice!
