New Year's Eve in Manhattan

Me and DH are in NYC for NYE plus the week following. We've ruled out Times Square and also boat trips. There seem to be so many bars/venues offering good views/open bars and some with canopes. Too many to choose from.

Anyone done similar and if so, please recommend or advise against.

Budget-wise, ideally around 300-400 dollars each but that needs to include a seat and some food. Happy to pay less for just drinks and standing room only. Would really like to be able to view fireworks and some of the city if possible.

Forgot to add, when I say I've ruled out Times Square, I meant the ball drop element, not the bars that might be nearby!

Also, we're in our 40s and don't want a nightclub vibe or anywhere that's just trendy for the sake of it. 😀
