The whole place is pickled
The people are pickles for sure

We did a guided boat trip round the modern port which we enjoyed. I really liked rotterdam, which surprised me.

The Cube houses are famous, as is the architecture in general.
The Erasmus bridge and the harbour (and boat trips).
The Markthal indoor food market. (I bought purple cheese, flavoured with lavender)
Unfortunately the art museum Boijmans van Beuningen is closed for refurbishment.

I would suggest Liverpool or Rome

I’d jump on the train and go to The Hague to visit Mauritshuis, Escher Museum and Madurodam. It’s only 20mins each way.

I echo what Baronessbomburst has to say - it's a lovely city to walk round and generally look at the architecture- the Oudehaven is nice for drinks and food and has heated terraces so you can sit out all year round.

We're planning on hiring bikes and heading to Schiedam for Gin next time we're there - it's about 5km outside of the centre and is also doable by train.

If you're there on a Saturday the weekly market is also worth a wander around. It's right outside the Markthal which itself is worth a visit - filled with small food and drink stalls. There are also walking tours which start outside it - everyone speaks English so don't worry about the language!

It's a great city!

Rotterdam is an amazing city. Would recommend Spido 75 minutes boat tour round the harbour (ticket office is near the Erasmus Bridge on the north side of the river). Trip up the Euromast also well worth doing. If you're going to a few attractions, it's worth getting a Rotterdam Welcome Card. Prices start at 6 euros and the card gives good discounts on many attractions, as well as the option of adding a day's public transport to the card for an extra payment.
Have a great time!
