Package holiday prices, book now or wait?

We're going to book one week in June 2023 term time with tui.
Last month the holiday we wanted was £2085, this month its gone up by £300.
Should we book now or wait and see if it comes down in price again?

We are visiting family during the holiday so cannot change the month or destination and tui are the only company that do a package there.

I think I’d see if there is a sale after Xmas. It’s the time that many holidays are focused upon, so seems possible to me.

Thanks.
That's when I normally book, straight after Christmas but I've not booked since 2020 so wasn't sure if it still works out cheaper in January or whether it's cheaper to book asap.

The airport we normally fly from has just shut down permanently as well so that's bumped up the cost as we'll need an airport hotel due to the flight times at the next nearest airports.

I think costs have increased, but it will depend on booking whether they go on sale. It’s a gamble, depends if you’re willing! Sorry, not much help

Does it have to be a package? You might have more choice and/or better prices if you book separately.

Where is it that you're going? I'm guessing you're near Doncaster? If you're going short haul, I'd look at Jet2 from Leeds or East Midlands for the flights.

But as to whether it will be cheaper now, in January or after Easter, I think it's a 'who knows'. Prices always seem to be all over the place and past variations isn't necessarily an indicator of how they'll vary over the next 6 months, especially if sales are slow because fewer people are booking holidays because they're worried about being able to afford it.

But we often holiday in June and rarely book before Easter in the same year and the prices always seem decent.

@BarbaraofSeville we've decided package due to all the issues there's been with cancellations this year.
Unfortunately jet2 don't fly there (Tunisia) so we have to go with tui from East Midlands or Manchester.

Is it Doncaster? The Manchester flights are more expensive but could you try Leeds Bradford as they tend to be cheaper?

fairgame84 · 14/11/2022 11:17

@NCFT0922 they don't fly to Tunisia from Leeds Bradford

If you’ve got very specific requirements you’re not in the best position to wait it out. I wouldn’t risk it personally if you’ve found exactly what you need. I think the people they do well over last minute holidays are able to be flexible re destination and timing.

I’ve been looking for October half term next year and hotel I was after is completely sold out. Think there is still a lot of pent up demand post covid.
