@Fivemoreminutes1 thanks, never done a long haul east, reckon it’s worth it for a week? X

You could easily get a week in Dubai for that budget. I’d go for the new Raffles Hotel on the Palm (not the City Raffles) or the Ritz Carlton in JBR.

Best place to look is Emirates Holidays flight plus hotel option.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 07/11/2022 04:07

@Needaholidaypronto Yes, it’s worth it imo. We find it easier to adjust if our eastbound flight is as late as possible in the evening.

Goa?

Needaholidaypronto · 07/11/2022 07:51

@HolidayHappy123 thanks, though trying to avoid Dubai even though it’s the obvious choice, really doesn’t appeal!

Long haul is worth for a week. I’ve been to the following places at that time of year and enjoyed them all.
Cape Town
St Lucia
Dubai
Dominican Republic
Bahamas
Virgin Islands
Mexico, Pacific side so the sea was a bit choppy.

Muscat

Langkowi- it is an island off Maylasia. Fly to KL and then a short flight to Langkowi. DH and I had a fab 8 days there. We stayed at the Meritius Pelangi. Lovely people- beautiful country. Reasonable costs.

We have just come back from Maldives which is good for a week for perfect beaches, snorkeling, water activities if looking for very relaxing.

Also done Costa Rica which could work well if want some wildlife as well and bit wilder beaches, better value for money.

uggmum · 07/11/2022 08:16

Mauritius is lovely and totally doable for that budget.
Beautiful island with amazing people and service.

I loved it.

Needaholidaypronto · 07/11/2022 08:19

@Silkierabbit on my shortlist! Any particular resort you’d recommend? X

Have you checked out Mauritius, Maldives and Seychelle weather. They could work?

uggmum · 11/11/2022 16:00

I went to Dubai in June and absolutely hated it. I couldn't understand the hype.

You might need to go further afield for winter sun. Can you stretch for 10 days.

If you shopped around you could get Mauritius for that price. Thailand is another good shout. Caribbean is perfect for Jan but can be pricey.

@Needaholidaypronto
I went in October. I have booked to go again in March.
The best time to go is between oct and April.
It does rain but it passes quickly. When we were there it rained but for no more than 30 mins a time and then the sun was straight back out.
We had many days without rain.
Also depends on what side of the island you go to.

I am staying at a Beachcomber Resort when I go next. Reviews are excellent.
