I’ve booked a night stay at this hotel and wondered if anyone has been so I can get tips on how to maximise the spa etc as it’s only one night?

We're staying here soon too so following and giving you a little bump

We go there next Monday so will update you when I’m back. It looks amazing I’m very excited. Have emailed the hotel a couple of times so the spa ritual doesn’t need to be booked and you apply the various stages on yourself it takes 45 minutes. Check in at 3 so we’re going to have the free cakes at 4 then hit the spa/lagoon. I think the mini bars free too😁

Yes please do update me when back @Miathecat! What other excursions are you doing whilst in Iceland?

Miathecat · 08/11/2022 20:37

We are spending 2 days in Reykjavik, then hiring a car and stealing ideas from an old thread I found, extract below😁it all seems to be in one area

First Thingveller National Park where we walked to a waterfall that’s been used in Game of thrones (sorry cant remember the name!). Then drove to see Strokkur Geyser which was fab to see in action! Then onto Gullfoss Waterfall which was absolutely stunning and a lot bigger than in photos. Then on the way back we also stopped at Kerid Crater which my husband wasn’t that impressed with, but I liked it!

How was it @Miathecat ? Hope you had a lovely time!

Was absolutely brilliant, 2 nights in Reykjavik wandering around doing tourist things and shopping, we ate in Sjávargrillið which we thought was a bit pricey on first night turns out it was quite cheap! We had tasting menu with matching wine which was £100 each absolutely amazing and we paid the same in our hotel the next night for a couple of starters, pudding and bottle of wine😬

hired a car and went on a whistle stop tour Strokkur Geyser Then onto Gullfoss Waterfall (they’re very close) then 1 1/2 hour drive to retreat hotel. What an experience the hotel is, rooms are amazing with a free bar which they top up at night when turning down bed, champagne on arrival. We are in lava restaurant as the other posher one not open on Monday when we were there and it was really nice food. We managed to get late checkout, so 1.30 instead of 11. Feel free to ask anything and I’ll try my best to help, definitely going back someday!

Was Iceland beautiful op?

Miathecat · 29/11/2022 20:08

I’m a little spoilt because I live in the north of Scotland so the landscape was very similar but still stunning and I think the further you drive the more dramatic it would be, the gulfoss waterfall was stunning
