Can anyone reccommend some good places to eat? Do you know of any cheap but nice accomodation?

Also where can I find a good shopping center. I need to bring stuff back to Laos and I don't have much time to spend there.

there is a ymca hotel close to the shopping on orchard road. I had a friend take me to the area where all the indian restaurants are or there is a chinatown. Had some great food.

There are shopping centres absolutely everywhere in Singapore. Orchard Road has individual shops, a couple of department stores and hundreds of 'malls' that are generally quite specific in the types of shops they have, ie some are just childrens shops, clothes, shoes etc. It's a long road though, so if you're after specific things you'd need to know where to head.

SunTec City is a huge mall that covers most kinds of shops, including a supermarket. It's quite central too.

When are you going and how long will you be there for?

Thanks for the info.

I'll be going next week for 4 days.

Best food stalls are:

  • makansutra/Glutton bay (esplanade by the river) & Newton circus & east coast park ( a bit far of the centre)
  • Food stalls in major shopping centres very decent too ( 1st floor marina square & ground floor suntec & Food republic in vivocity and Wisma atria on orchard)

Banana leaf emporium in Little India is fab for indian food.
The Mustafa centre for shopping is also in little india. They have evrerything (true) and open 24h/7

What do you need? There are so many shopping centres here!
Some are specialised and some are more expensive than others.

Vivocity is nice as it is a stone's throw from sentosa island (beach and entertainment).
