Hi, I am going to Orlando for the first time next Easter and can't wait. One thing I would like to do is to take the kids (5 and 8) to a show one evening. Can you recommend any?

Oh my God, where to start...the whole thing is just SUPERB! i am soooo jealous of you.
We found that we were so exhausted after our days out that we just couldnt muster up energy for any thing at night. However at MGM studios (i think) they put on a water show at the last hour of the park opening and that was superb.
When you go, you can get brochures of the different parks and these shows will be advertised on those.
Have a fantastic time x

Thanks a lot Donbeam. Do you have to pay extra to see the show?

No, it was all included in the entrance fee.
SOOOOOOO JEALOUS.

Do you mean like the firework shows in the parks? Or something else?

TBH, our favourite was the Spectremagic parade, and the final firework display at Magic Kingdom. You just can't match it for the whole magical experience

Thanks, I was really thinking about taking the kids to a specific event whether in one of the parks or not but in the evening. It would have to be planned out because usually they would be at home in the evening. When you went to see the fireworks did you spend the whole day in park as well or just go in to the park for a few hours before hand? Also, did you eat in the Magic Kingdom park or just take sandwiches? Sorry for all the questions, I am getting so excited about this trip...

First day we spent all day in the park. Last day we were in Epcot for the morning and then Magic Kingdom in the afternoon and evening.

We ate in the parks - so long as you don't mind burger and chip type snacks we didn't find it particularly expensive.

Each of the parks have different shows, parades and fireworks throughout the day. The times are included in all the brochures on arrival in Florida - I think you can get them off the website (for Disney at least) nearer the time too. And they are posted at the entrances of the parks too.

For during the day, our favourites shows were:

The Lion King show in Animal Kingdom
Beauty and the Beast in MGM

Also likes the Little Mermaid indoor show in MGM

Storytime with Belle in Magic Kingdom is lovely and sweet

TBH, there are loads of great shows and things to see at different times.

I went to this about 20 years ago, but remember loving it, though I am not sure if I would love it today(I am very jaded! ) It is called Medieval Times. the web site says this "our live show recreates a Middle Age tournament of skill and sport, featuring valiant knights and powerful stallions." It is a show with horses and you get dinner too, each section of the audience has a color which correspond to a knight and you cheer for your man to win. It was a lot of fun.

I second the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom, we also went to Cirque de Soleil but it was v. expensive and a one off.

Hi,
Only just seen this thread, I have been on the health threads all week! As you know we came back from Florida with my trio 4 weeks ago. We had the most fantastic happy time. I have to say the Lion King Show is soooooooooo wonderful, only wished it were longer, and yes, the Spectromagic and the fireworks are unbelievably MAGICAL! We drove past Medieval Times and it looked so horribly tacky, also they are dogging up the whole area around so it just looked a mess. I also loved Mickeys philarmagic, saw it 3 times! I think to be honest there is no need to go out of the parks to see other shows, nobody does it better than Disney. As for food I found the parks very reasonable in comparison to what we pay here, we would have loved to have dined at Cinderellas castle but decided it would have been alot of wasted $`s as my 3 were generally too excited to eat. One of our favourite places was the Liberty Belle Tavern in Liberty Square nr the Haunted Mansion, that was my favourite ride, the kids and I did it 4 times! Oh I am longing to go back!
