Where is the busiest resort on Crete. We like plenty to do and see. Don't want to be in a resort in the middle of nowhere. Like to be able to walk to shops, bars, restaurants
Thanks

Chania has a good nightlife scene, stunning architecture and lovely coffee houses, taverns, and restaurants on almost every corner. I especially love the Old Town, with small pedestrian lanes and restaurants all over that get busy later at night. Compared to Heraklion, Chania is easier and fun to walk around. It also has some beautiful beaches and a handful of tourist attractions like the Venetian Port, Ottoman mosque and a few museums.

Aside from your question you should read The Island before you go by Victoria Hislop and visit Spinalonga for the day.

Rethymnon near Chania is also very busy and lively. Think carefully before doing the Samara Gorge. It is not the easy walk that the tour operators describe. Worth doing if you are fit but a tough day in the heat.

Agree with visiting Spinalonga. We went by public transport to Ag Nik, then another bus up to Plaka. There is a small ferry to the island that nips in front of the larger boats that have to queue up for a space on the quay. When you go back to Plaka there are a couple of resraurants to sit in with food/drink if you have to wait for the bus. Ag Nik is a nice town too.

Chania is my go-to when I want a week in the sun. It’s really female friendly for solo women travellers too.

Chania or Rethymnon were the places we looked at staying. They're towns rather than resorts though.

Yea absolutely agree. I felt totally at ease travelling with my daughter. We just arrived there without any accommodation booking.
