Air BnB recommendations

Hi all, looking at Air Bnb's for next August, and there is just so much choice so thought I'd ask if anyone had stayed anywhere good in Europe (thinking Southern France, Italy, Croatia, Portugal) recently they could recommend?

We're looking for space for four people with a pool. Happy to hire a car and drive to restaurants, days out, beaches. Max budget would be about £2500 for a week for accommodation though is a little flexible.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Never use AirBNB would be my recommendation. Shysters who will not help with any issues. Do you want your own pool as opposed a a shared one?

I'm aware that there must be hundreds on dodgy Air BnB's out there, another reason to ask for some recommendations.

Ideally a private pool. Our last couple of holidays have been big resort hotels and we fancied a quieter break next time.

Sounds like you really need a private villa.
There are plenty of specialist companies that will give full ATOL & ABTA protection .

Have you looked at villa plus ?

I have taken plenty of French VRBOs and not had a problem with dodgy ones. Also AirBNB. I just read the reviews carefully and don’t book new properties without reviews either - use your instinct.

There are plenty of specialist companies that will impose their own T&Cs and take a profit share for themselves too. You need to book travel through them too for full protection. All in all it’s a lack of flexibility that doesn’t suit me. I just book using a decent credit card. i cant recommend anything specifically as we tend to be a larger group though.

Thanks for the replies. Will have a look at villas and definitely check reviews carefully. The flexibility was what I was liking about Air BnB, a lot of the flights I was looking at were midweek, and quite liked the idea of staying in two different places eg city hotel for two nights then on to somewhere more rural.

I've used both Airbnb and Vrbo for the reasons you mention and they've both been fine.

I only book properties with a fairly flexible cancellation policy and read all the reviews carefully. I don't book places with no reviews or any where the host score is any less than 4 stars on VRBO or 4.5 on Airbnb.

We stayed here last Christmas and it was amazing! Can highly recommend it and the host Luis was fantastic. Stunning views of the coast from the infinity pool and the volcano Mount Teide. It's in Tenerife mind but there were some amazing days out as long as you had a car. Unfortunately I'd be amazed if you can get a villa with a pool with your budget in the South of France 😞

Thank you @Jones9876 that looks amazing! Hadn't considered Canaries but will have a look at flight prices, and if not for summer might make for a nice Oct getaway.
