Roaming charges in Turkey

Anyone know the best way to add on roaming to mobiles in turkey?

DH and I aren’t bothered but 2 teenage dc’s are

EE are quoting £6.85 per day for 500MB but there’s no cut off so that could be very expensive if they go over it

can I buy a SIM in the uk that will work over there and be cheaper?

If they have iPhones or phones that accept E-Sims have a look at the BreatheSIM app or keepgo website that have options

Thanks. They both have phones that are tied to EE while they’re still in contract or we have some old phones that are no longer tied to any networks

Dh is on 02 and paid over £40 for 4 hours! I think sky wanted £2 per day but I just used wifi

esims are just "digital" SIM cards that live in your phone rather than as a physical SIM card. You can use both the normal SIM and the E-SIM at the same time as a second line effectively. So you install one and use it only for data when in Turkey, then when they come back it just expires after the 30 days.

you just tell it which line you want to use for Mobile Data

Otherwise it's praying wherever you stay has decent WiFi

You should be able to unlock their phones free of charge now, regardless of whether they're in contract or not:
ee.co.uk/help/help-new/getting-started-and-upgrading/unlock-your-phone/unlock-a-ee-device-to-use-with-another-network

Plus you can't exceed the 500mb without knowing and run up an unexpected bill - it will cut them off at 500mb and ask them to buy another pass

I'd suggest though encouraging them to use WiFi instead as 500mb isn't going to be much really (depending on how much they use their phones of course)

You can pick up a SIM at the airport. They'll be kiosks for Vodafone, Turkcel and Turk Telecom. £20/30 quid for 5/10 GB. Put the SIM in one phone and then hotspot everything else to it. Alternatively if anyone has O2 you can get unlimited data in Turkey for £6 a day, again hotspot one phone.

This may or may not help... I bought a three pay as you go SIM and it gives you free roaming. I just bought the £10 one. I also have a phone with dual SIM, so could use the data off one sim and use my normal number as usual.

Thanks.
do all phones accept esims or just the most up to date?
I looked at the Three ones but they don’t seem to include Turkey.
i’m getting very confused and hope the hotel WiFi is good!!
