Somewhere like Rome?

DH and I went to Rome last month and it was just blissful - literally every day was like a dream, we didn't have one bad experience and I have huuuuuuge holiday blues now I'm back.

So could someone recommend us somewhere as amazing as Rome?

Things we enjoyed were:
Art, history, culture
So many things to see so each day was structured and finely planned out
Food
People warm and welcoming

I don't think we'll ever find anywhere that matches up! We haven't travelled much in Europe so all suggestions welcome please!

I've been to so many places but Rome and Florence are my faves.

Paris has a magic about it too.

Another vote for Sicily. I haven't been to Palermo, but Syracuse is to die for.

RosesAndHellebores · 22/10/2022 09:52

Bologna. Seeping with culture.

Not sure anything can match to the History of Rome but Italy is an amazing country. Have you been in Tuscany including Florence and Pisa? Amalfi Coast? Venice, Verona and Lake Garda? Lake Como.

Other options in Europe are Barcelona, Madrid, Bruges, Granada, Seville, Prague, Copenhagen.

Moonlight75 · 22/10/2022 15:53

We also had a great time in Porto, Lisbon and the surrounding areas.

Sorry - sent too soon....
I agree that Rome is unique - and my favourite city - but I'd also recommend Vienna.

ProperSorryFrown · 22/10/2022 16:04

Berlin.

Seville and Lisbon are my favourite city break destinations, and I've done quite a few.

MissAmbrosia · 22/10/2022 19:35

Vienna is very dull in mho. Seville and Lisbon are fabulous though. The Cinque Terre and Italian Riviera. Nice.
