Brecon Beacons/Hay on Wye

Family of four with two young teens (who still enjoy doing stuff with us, phew) staying a 10 min drive from Hay on Wye for three nights next week. We would love to have a walk or two in the Black Mts or Brecon Beacons, as well as lunch and a wander round Hay. We’ll have a dog with us too. Any top tips or recommendations?

The Dragon’s Back is a circular walk with amazing views and you can have a bite to eat at Dinas Castle Inn which is very cosy.
The Four Falls trail is quite popular and stunning in Autumn. There are toilets and facilities at the waterfall centre in Pontneddfechan. Take a picnic and make a day of it – each waterfall has a place to sit and relax.
The Felin Fach Griffin is one of the best pubs in the area and also happens to be very dog friendly. I’d also recommend Hill’s burgers and the Welsh Rarebit Centre in Brecon (both allow dogs).
