Anyone flew BMI and took their own car seat?

We are going to Syria in April and flying with BMI. Even though DS will be 23 months and still eligible to go as an infant and sit on our laps etc, we have decided to get him a seat.

We plan on taking our own car seat that is plane compatible (i.e fits a lap belt) and so we can use it in Syria also. However, BMI have told us that they want us to use their car seats. We said ok and can we book one with the seat then, oh no apparently its on a first come first serve basis, so we have to check in over 2hrs early to try and get a car seat and if no luck, use ours (if they are happy with it)

I Wanted to find out if anyone has used them, what they thought, did they get a car seat from them etc and if not, what car seat did they take? Also, apparently if we have to check the car seat in, it counts as part of the baggage allowance?!! I thought this wasn't the case?

Ahh - someone else flying BMI at least! Bit vague on it all aren't they - DH couldn't get a concrete answer on anything!

Bump for the afternoon crowd!
