flying to barbados with 13month old. Is it worth paying for extra seat?

We are going to Barbados in Oct with Virgin and will be taking our 13 month daughter. Is it worth paying for a separate seat for her in economy?
Our other option is to travel premium economy where the seats are wider and more legroom but without a separate seat for her. Any advice ??

If you can afford it buy the seat in economy. You'll need to take your car seat on the plane, which is a pain, but well worth the agony. I travel in premium quite regularly and I prefer to do economy with my kids cos the seating is more flexible.

Have done it both ways - there's just not enough space for an active toddler - and you should then be able to get three in a row on the plane. Also pre-book seats if you can (you won't be able to sit next to an exit) so you know you've got three next to each other.

Have fun.

I wouldn't waste your money,my son only sat in it for 30 mins and we ended up using it to put magazines and bags on the seat. Treat yourself at the Spa when you get there.

we went to spain when my dd was about the same age. We bought an extra seat and it was fab cause the seating config was 3-3 so we had 3 seats all together. She didint sit in it but we had room. Imagine sittin next to a big fat bloke/woman who hates kids and yoiu cant get in or out etc. If you can afford it I would say def def get one.

Especially on longhaul..tbh I wouldnt think twice about it.

I took my dd to Barbados at 15 months, and yes I paid for an extra seat - she sat on my lap quite a lot of the time, but it was still really handy to have the seat to put her toys etc on. we'd have felt hideously crushed in if we'd been between 2 strangers with her on my lap (I travelled on my own with her). and they would probably have felt quite irritated by us!

We are going on Thursday, with our 14 month old, our 4 yr old. No spare seat, but we're travelling Premium out and Club back, so too expensive - and hopefully not too necessary!

Then again, if I were travelling alone I definitely would get a spare seat (in economy). As it is, dh is coming and so is a friend - so lots of help, hopefully

I'll let you know how it is!

elibean ..there is a big difference between being squashed in 2 seats in economy with someone on the end to being a part of 4 in premium or club ..You will be absolutely fine.

Travelling to Barbados with a 6 month old baby via XL.. Any advice re sky cot. Having read the reviews about XL having some regrets but it was the only flight available. Also did anyone boil tap water for formula feeds?
