Flights cancelled Love Holidays

Hi all.
I booked a holiday through Love Holidays a couple of months ago for June 2023: flights, transfers, hotel and airport hotel parking. I've had an email from Love Holidays with my Ryanair flight details saying they're really sorry but the flights have been cancelled. I'm offered 3 choices: accepting the change, rescheduling for the day before or the day after the rescheduled flights or cancelling the flights. I'm wary about clicking links in the email but there's no messages or updates in Manage My Bookings. What do I do? I'm guessing it's probably a common thing: has this happened to anyone else on here? Will Love Holidays sort all the other bits to fit with the flights? I've got months to go, but it's worrying me. Thank you :-)

I had this today from Ryanair.. moving the return date back one day! So I chose the cancellation option. Good old Ryan air!!

Thank you. Did the whole holiday cancel? Or just the flights? I'd be sad to lose the lot :-(

I had booked flights and accommodation separately so I only had flights booked with Ryan air.. hopefully Love Holidays can sort out new dates for you and sort out all the extra bits 😊

Thank you. I have my fingers crossed! 🤞🤞🤞

Just received a message from them: they're charging me an extra £72.... does anyone know if this is normal? I didn't want to change the dates: I accepted the offered alternative date. There was never a mention of paying more. It was already worrying me, and now it's worrying me a little! My airport parking is still left booked for the wrong day: I don't know what to do.... has this happened to anyone else? Thanks :-(

That is awful, surely if you booked it as a package holiday then they should sort it.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 02/11/2022 16:33

They're charging you an extra £72 for what exactly?.

Do you have an ATOL certificate from them for any part of this holiday?.

The problem here is that Love Holidays are agents and put these holidays together for people. They are not package operators in the usual sense of the word.

This is on their website:
"Loveholidays acts as an agent in respect of all bookings made on our website or by telephone. For all bookings, your contract will be with the applicable Service Provider of your chosen Travel Service (who may be the principal or the agent of the principal) and loveholidays acts only as an agent on their behalf, except where we state to the contrary in the terms and conditions.
Some of the flights and flight-inclusive holidays on this website are financially protected by the ATOL scheme. But ATOL protection does not apply to all holiday and travel services listed on this website. This website will provide you with information on the protection that applies in the case of each holiday and travel service offered before you make your booking. If you do not receive an ATOL Certificate then the booking will not be ATOL protected. If you do receive an ATOL Certificate but all the parts of your trip are not listed on it, those parts will not be ATOL protected. Please see our booking conditions for information, or for more information about financial protection and the ATOL Certificate go to: www.caa.co.uk/atol-protection/."

Can you cancel the whole thing? Hopefully it’s classified as a flight inclusive holiday and therefore ATOL bound. You can always rebook it yourself knowing the hotel has a space and rebook the flights with another budget airline yourself.

Also I cancelled a flight once knowing in law I would only get the airport tax back. In fact the flight was so cheap that MOST of it was airport tax so I lost less than a tenner!

Its not a holiday booked through Ryanair directly so I’m not sure what the advantage of Love Holiday is? BA and Easyjet do flight and hotel packages. I’ve only had this canceled once with BA and they refunded the lot.

Sorry you’re having this stress.

I'd cancel the lot & re-book with a package tour operator.

Rosenotred · 02/11/2022 17:47

Ahhh you have clicked the link. Love Holidays are a mixed bag since covid this is where the real problem is. Love holiday's are not a package holiday and they are not ATOL protected they left during covid.

My neighbours use them and have had no issues... but the expense comes in if you need to change flights and so on. Even on the way back from your holiday what if you didn't have £200 or whatever for a flight change.

There's no way I would use LH, TUI always come up cheapest for me and its what I know.

Happylivingonmyown · 02/11/2022 19:43

Thanks all. I checked the ATOL certificate: flights, hotel and transfers are all protected. I've told them to take the £72 so I don't lose the holiday and will go down the complaints route. I actually wrote "Take the money so I don't lose my holiday and ask your complaints team to email me: I wish to complain about the service I have received and the extra charges." I have no idea why they're charging me more. I think maybe they think I've changed my dates because I wanted to and the new ones cost more. I really don't want to cancel the whole thing: we're really looking forward to it. I won't be using them again.... back to TUI next time! :-)
