We are thinking of going in January. Has anyone ever been?

Yes. Buenos Aires is divine.

Go go it's a fantastic place. Go to Mendoza for the wine, and the activities, and more wine. Did I mention the wine?

It will be hot in January so the swimming place on 'total wipeout will probably be open.

What are your interests? weather will be great in Patagonia for hiking, long days and not hot, Bariloche is a good base but really depends how far south you want to go. Iguazu is one of my favourite places in the world but will be very humid then, worth it though (see it from both sides). I didn't warm to BA despite staying a week but loved Mendoza.

Iguazu falls is a good trip and as everyone else said it's a beautiful part of the world.
