Barbados

I’m due to travel to Barbados early next year and am concerned about the currency.
Is it common to use Barbadian dollars in hotels and restaurants or do people tend to use US dollars?
If it’s the latter we might cancel due to the dreadful currency rate.

A two course meal with a large bottle of water, one drink each and a bottle of wine you’re looking at £300~£350 for two people.

Assume this is a typo? Do you mean that's this cost over the week? Or that's the Barbadian dollar cost (even so still really high).

I went self catering 2 years ago and don't spend anything like this! Also west coast.

Similar we stayed near 1 Sandy lane - had some cradling meals out but nothing expensive. And lots of street food.

I found the portions to be huge in Barbados (think American sizes) so I could have easily done without lunch.

I paid for a full board meal plan but wish I'd gone half board.

They often do happy hour drinks but I'd also suggest buying some spirits to enjoy a drink on the balcony (if you have one).

Barbados is a beautiful country, you'll have a great time.
