Where would you go?

Okay. So I’ve had an AWFUL year. Had to cancel a family holiday to Mexico we had waited 3 years for 3 weeks before we flew so lost most of the money. I stupidly had left insurance to the last minute having lost the premium twice during covid when the holiday was cancelled. I had a cancer diagnosis followed by surgery and chemo hence the cancellation.

Our parents have agreed to have our little one for 10-14 days next year so DH and I can have our first long haul luxury holiday as a “well done you’re still alive” reward. I am so excited and clinging to this to get me through the last few rounds of chemo.

Where would you go? I really really wanted to do the Maldives but can’t se to find a direct flight and the sheer travel time involved is putting me off. We’d ideally go between Feb and May.

Options I’ve looked at so far are

Maldives (would love but travel time is wild)
Mauritius (looks amazing)
St Lucia

If you had the option to do a one-off beautiful holiday where would you? Seychelles/Fiji/BVI WAY out of budget! £5-6k for all inclusive for both at the very max.

Maldives is wonderful. Have you thought about doing two destinations? We flew into Dubai (6 /7 hours) stayed a few nights there and then flew to the Maldives which is approx 4 hours from there/

We have looked at Dubai/Maldives, I’m a bit unsure how you book a twin centre holiday. Any recommendations on companies to look at? We usually use Tui as mostly just do family breaks to Spain! Thanks for the suggestions so far!

You could do a week on a cruise around the Carribbean with Tui followed by a week in Barbados. Best of both worlds. Waking up somewhere different every day for a week followed by a lovely private just the two of you week in a beach front hotel in Barbados. We did this The cruise part was amazing. You can get tables for two if you wish. That's what we did. Had balcony cabin so enjoyed the arriving and leaving ports in our own space and took ourselves off round the different islands on our own. No need to be with crowds. Then very restful week idling time away in Barbados.

I think you may struggle to do 10 days in the Maldives for £6K OP. You could try emailing 'purely maldives' who will tell you if its possible and give you options. You may be better going to the Caribbean. Antigua is lovely.

BA do direct to Maldives OP, we're going to be booking with them next year. Have a look, it's about 12 hours from Heathrow to Male if I remember correctly
