Please recommend somewhere in Greece

For August next year, for a family of four (inc 12 and 15 year olds). Sandy beaches are a must along with interesting attractions and ideally a town not too far away. If it's an island we can easily travel to from Athens that would be a bonus as DH would like to go there for a few days also. We've already been to Kefalonia so would like to try somewhere else.

Overseas family are joining us for a week so any recommendations for a large villa would be hugely appreciated also otherwise we will all book separate apartments or hotel rooms.

We chose Crete as our starter island for next year's holiday. We plan on hopping our way back to Athens but there does seem to be enough to do on the island itself for a week :)

We've done a few Greek Islands. Last year we went to Crete and loved it

We stayed in Crete and took a day trip to Santorini. I'd love to spend more time in Santorini.

For accessibility to Athens, have a look at the Saronic Islands. Frequent ferries from Piraeus and you could also do a trip to the Peloponnese, visit Epidaurus, Mycenae. I have my eye on Angistri. greecetravelideas.com/saronic-islands-greece/
