Tourist visa for India

Does anyone know how to get a tourist visa for India as a U.K. citizen? My DD and her friends are planning to go in February, but it’s as clear as mud on the Indian government websites!

You need to go in person to a processing centre now (the e-visa option is now not available for British citizens). I would be wary of booking a holiday to India at the moment, since the processing centre is run by VFS Global and they are notorious for having poor availability of appointments, to the point that people are losing holidays, having not been able to get a visa appointment.

Hi OP, pls see the recent thread, "Indian tourist visa", for more information about the current situation.

We've done all the paperwork and have been trying to get an in-person appointment for several days. None available at any of the processing centres. Appointments seem to be all booked up/unavailable until late November and ones after that haven't been released to book yet. I think our trip in the new year won't be happening 😟

@TreesAtSea Thanks - that Times article is v useful. And other comments.

@bigTillyMint , in case it's helpful, after my previous post I managed to get on the appointment booking page by constantly refreshing it after 7:30pm (advice from the other thread) and have got an appointment in London for late November. That will give us time to book flights, assuming they grant our visas.

Completing the paperwork online wasn't too arduous.

Good luck!
