I have just booked flights for May half term for Rhodes - unexpected as had planned for Crete, but timings didn't work in the end. Would love some family hotel recommendations please - good pools, on a lovely beach with somewhere to walk to in the evenings if possible. Shorter transfer time would be best. We would like to do AI as easier with the children but will definitely venture out to surrounding areas too. Thanks All.

Don't do the Lindos imperial. It had a couple of really nice points but the restaurants are badly set up and the hotel is in the middle of nowhere.

If you go out for the day, do get up very early to avoid the mayhem of the guided tours, it's easy to drive in Rhodes, I would get a car.

Beaches are very much pebble, you do need water shoes (at least in the south, not sure of the north of the island).

Hi , we stayed at Pefki Islands at Pefkos and had a great time. I was pregnant when we went but would definitely take my 3 year old , it was full of familys. We were a few minute walk away from the all the shops, bars etc a few had things outside for children trampolines, playing equipment, swimming pools etc. There was also a bus stop and car hire, we rented a car and drove about. There was a small water park nearby which looked great for children in Lardos. The room had air con and you could have an upper or lower room. There was a shop, 2 pools, a small food casual cafe style place next to the pools to grab food, a couple of bars with entertainment think they bad karaoke etc on. There was another sister hotel next door with another pool , restaurant etc you could use. It was on the beach front so you went down some steps from the hotel, you did need to walk abit to get to the proper beach though it was quite small and narrow the sand as you went down. The only down side I would say was it was about.1 hour 30 minute transfer it was quite down south from what I can remember. We knew 2 family's who go in that area one with older and one with small children who love it too. It was self catering our hotel I think alot of them were but there were enough of shops , restaurants , bars etc near by. We were also near Lindos and Lardos, you could get a bus there.

Thanks very much! Looking into everything now. Slightly worried about beaches as son is autistic and not fond of stones but hopefully I can get him into beach shoes..
