3.5hr flight / 45m transfer / busy resort

Where could this be?

Anywhere within 3.5 hours so likely Spain, Balearics but not canaries or Turkey, possibly Portugal or certain parts of Greece??

The short transfer (private) is key less than 45m

When we get to the resort we want places to go things to do and see. Perhaps a marina / boat trip and another day trip.

Please let me know where I can start my search!!

I think I'll have to check that out - surprised so many suggestions for the same place / I thought I'd be spoiled for choice.

Alicante city - bus from airport about 20 mins. Lovely beach, castle on a hill, boats from Marina, lovely ice cream places, wide sea front promenade (with a posh Macdonalds!)

Any Turkey resorts that have a short transfer?

I know marmaris is a good few hours from the airport but if you could get to Turkey in around 3.5 hours and with a short transfer. They have fab hotels and are very reasonably priced.

Kardamena in Kos - 10 mins from the airport.

Sardinia. Fly into Alghero airport and stay in Alghero town.

@BaronessBomburst where did you stay? How long ago? What did you do? I've had a Google since you posted this morning and looks perfect for us (3 kids 11, 13, 15). But some advice on what you liked would be great.

Nice/Antibes/Juan Les Pins. Plenty of apartment options. Near the airport. Loads to do including boat trips.

BaronessBomburst · 09/10/2022 01:18

@Mumdiva99 we went at the end of August and stayed a week in a self-catering apartment in the city centre, opposite the indoor market. We took the bus to the beach and the Science Park but walked everywhere else.
We visited the silk museum, the science museum (one of the best I've been to!), the zoo/ aquarium, the cathedral and saw the (alleged) Holy Grail. We climbed towers and the old city walls, saw the silk exchange and a fabulous church. We went to a traditional horchata cafe, Alehop (Flying Tiger meets Smiggle), and NYUNYU (Claire's but better). We listened to buskers, visited the art gallery, and hung out in parks and squares, and DS paddled around on boats.
The food was excellent; we ate traditional fartons and pintxos but also bought food from the market to cook to save money.

I literally just (in the last hour or so) got back from 10 days in Torremolinos, so can vouch for that area. Benalmadena is just a short distance along the coast from there too. Literally about 15 minutes transfer from Malaga airport. Great.

BaronessBomburst · 09/10/2022 01:29

Horchata and fartons, the view from our window, and flamingos with the science park in the background.
I don't have that many photos. DH and DS have better phones so I used theirs.

We stayed http://www.suites-valencia.es/ at the Goerlich Suits. They were clean and quiet but there is a shared laundry room with only two machines and not enough drying racks, and the kitchens were very basically equipped. All IKEA stuff and no wine glasses. Vital in Spain!

What was weather like this time of year and what was the resort like?

Es cana, Ibiza. Ferries take you all over the island. Lovely place

Mumdiva99 · 09/10/2022 12:06

@BaronessBomburst that all sounds excellent. Thank you so much for the info.

Was thinking Majorca but wasn't sure which resort has the short transfer.

It's a family holiday 2 adults 2 children (10 and 12)

Most of Mallorca has a transfer time of less than 1 hr, Puerto Pollensa is lovely, but if you go round the Bay of Palma, avoiding Magaluf unless you are 18, you are within easy travel distance, by local bus, to Palma, which is a cracking city.
