If you were renting a self catering cottage, how would you feel about this?

The owner/agent popping round during the first couple of days in your stay to check everything is ok?

Would you find it intrusive? Would you prefer an email/text or just to be left alone?

I’m curious as this came up while talking to a friend who manages a holiday rental and apparently that’s part of what she has to do. I said I’d find it a bit annoying for them to visit but maybe that’s just me.

I agree, very intrusive, just leave a number to contact if I need too.

Urgh no. What if you’re naked? Or asleep?

No and don’t ring the cottage either. Or send the neighbour (who happens to do the changeover) to come knocking on the window when we are in the throes of climactic first evening holiday shag. 🫣

I personally would find it a bit intrusive, but also understandable in some cases if they have had issues with misbehaving guests in the past.

On the other hand, I know a number of Spaniards and Americans who would love that. It gives them a chance to talk to a local, ask questions about the area that they've thought of, ask questions about the local real estate market, and potentially make new friends.
