Amsterdam in one day

My DH and I are staying in a spa hotel just outside of the city at the beginning of October. We plan on spending at least one day exploring - any recommendations for what to do for that day?
We are up for anything!

Book Anne Frank's house.

Maybe the Van Gogh museum or the other one (the one I can't spell)

do a hop-on hop off bus/barge.

I went with my dd and we did the This Is Holland exhibit/experience thing to start.

Just walking there is lovely. The most incredible thing though is the Anne Frank museum.

My favourite city! Sorry, I'm not going to be of much use as there's so much to mention that I wouldn't know where to start 🙂 It really has something for everyone so it completely depends on what you're interested in. I'd definitely recommend spending more than one day if possible, though. Doubtless other people will be along soon to offer specific suggestions. Have a wonderful trip!

If you actually want to go in any museums eg Anne Franks House, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh make sure you book them.

Otherwise you will use up most of your day just standing in the queue.

For only one day I think I might do a barge trip, and then go around the old town. Depending on your interests you are in the right place for the Rembrandt House, Hidden Church (my personal favourite), Oude Church, Sex Museum, numerous coffee houses... So whatever you have come to Amsterdam for, it is all there in a small space.

Micropia is great! www.micropia.nl/en/

The Hallen is very nice to get lunch.

Concertgebouw is absolutely gorgeous, if you love classical music, you really should book tickets for a concert so you can admire the place inside.

The 9 little streets are perfect for shopping (much better than the main street).

Anne Frank’s house is easily doable in an hour although I’d allow 90 mins. Is also suggest This is Amsterdam (also takes an hour), Nxt Museum and MOCA Museum. End your day with a pancake cruise amsterdam.pannenkoekenboot.nl/en/arrangement/pancake-cruise/
