Take pity on me, more organised folk of mumsnet. I have failed to organise and book a family holiday sufficiently in advance, and am now in desperate need of one. My eyes are bleeding with the amount of tripadvisor reviews I have read, but my brain is currently made of ADHD/perimenopausal mush, and I can't actually RETAIN anything useful. All and any suggestions are much (SO MUCH) appreciated.

  • 2 adults, 2 kids
  • Literally anywhere but don't fancy a massive long flight
  • October holidays (8th - 23rd, perhaps could take a day or so either side)
  • Separate sleeping areas lest WW3 be unleashed by my children looking at each other - there's an age gap...
  • Somewhere warm-ish ideally - enough to spend time in the pool/sea
  • Waterslides of some description
  • Kids club/entertainment
  • Kids will probably spend all day in the pool (hence the waterslides)
  • Ideally 10 days
  • Ideally 4+ star, but more interested in the tripadvisor reviews tbh
  • Ideally AI but we don't need booze (I don't know if there is a non-booze AI option)
  • Flights from Scotland (ideally - would consider other airports, but it's a ballache)
  • It would be amazing if it were near-ish somewhere vaguely interesting. I'm a city break woman at heart but what with gestures broadly ..... everything, I just can't face the organising.
  • Budget: 3k? Could do 3.5, maybe a bit over for something really special but it would hurt my soul.

Please help me! I just need to book something decent so I don't have an peri-related episode about this and hurt someone.

Will be warm. Plenty of history if you pick the right town.

Thank you! Cyprus for some reason hadn't even entered my mind. I didn't think it would be warm, for some reason. I've never been before - any recommendations for decent areas?

Well. I've learnt something today. How have I managed to get through life without thinking in any great depth, where Cyprus is? "Next to Egypt" would not have been my first thought.

Egypt is actually another option.

We went to Cyprus. It was scorchio in the summer and is still warm in winter. You can also drive on the "right" side of the road!! There's lots of interesting things to see as well. We went up to a monastery high in the mountains. Very peaceful.

DP was more surprised to see that Cyprus is just across the water from Syria.

As for booking your holiday, have a look at the deals section of jet2holidays. You can enter your preferred airports, dates, destinations, and then filter by Trip Advisor rating and board type. They even have a 'waterpark included' option I believe. I'd also suggest adding the Canaries, as it's likely to be warm and good value.

You could look at Half Board but you'll need to pay for soft drinks with dinner in the hotel, but if you get a room with a fridge, you could also buy drinks and snacks from a supermarket/convenience store.

Or you may find that All Inclusive isn't that much more expensive than other options and you'll know you won't have to spend more when you get there, but obviously it does tie you to the hotel somewhat.

I’d look at Lara Beach Turkey, Cyprus or Marrakech. Although Marrakech not ideal from Scotland.
