Destination/holiday suggestions for grandad

I am looking to book a holiday for my grandad in October time. Maybe to lanzarote or Tenerife or somewhere warm in Spain.

He hasn’t been away for almost 10 years so I want to book him somewhere nice. A hotel would be best. He will be travelling on his own as I can’t get the leave to go with him.

does any one have any suggestions for an older solo traveller? He is fairly active so mobility isn’t an issue. Thanks!

Does he want to sit in a hotel on his own? I am not young and I couldn’t think of anything worse! Try and talk to him first!

Maybe a coach tour or a cruise?

Saga used to do holidays for older people to travel together as a group and stay at the same hotel with a host who arranged trips and activities for them. Not sure if they still do that. Years ago I was in a hotel in the Caribbean that had a Saga group and their host staying there.

Has he got a valid passport ?

Malaga or the Costa Del Sol would be perfect as a base. Lovely weather, fabulous museums and lots to do outdoors if he’s active.
Its also easy to get to with excellent public transport links to places further afield as well as locally.

My parents like the Yaramar Hotel in Fuengirola as it’s adults only, mainly older folk, there’s always someone to talk to on an evening in the bar where there’s some entertainment. It’s also near a train station from the airport.

This one might fit the bill. I know of someone who goes there regularly as an older solo traveler and she loves it there.

Thank you all so so much for the suggestions! I’m going to look into all these and hopefully book something by the end of the week!

he definitely wants to stay in a hotel and maybe sit by a pool with a drink in hand (and possibly the odd excursion) so hopefully I can find something good for him 😁

good point about the passport. He’s usually very good with life admin but I’ll double check before I book
