Any flew from Gatwick recently?

We're going away in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if I should book fast pass through security? We did this when we flew from birmingham earlier this year and was great but not sure if we need to now?

Thanks very much. Flight mid morning if that makes a difference.

Flew from there last weekend, it was quick and seamless.

YumYummy · 24/09/2022 11:49

It was slightly quicker than normal.

Download the Gatwick airport official app. It shows live queue times. So put in a random destination leaving today, and it will show you the security queue length.

I asked this in Chat yesterday as I'm flying from there on Monday. General consensus was it's not necessary now.

We flew last Thursday and arrived three hours early as instructed. By the time we were through check in and security there were only twenty minutes left until our gate was called. We were travelling with a toddler though and the family queue was quite long.

Quicker than normal.

We flew mid August, late afternoon flight from the north Terminal. We'd done bag drop (self service) and security in about 20 mins. We then had a long and boring wait for our delayed flight!!

NisekoWhistler · 24/09/2022 14:23

Flying with easyJet at the beginning of august at peak week it was seamless, I'm certain you'll be fine

Twice in the past few weeks- about a 5 minute wait for bag drop and straight through security.
Never known it so quick! We arrived 3 hours early and were literally through to the shops in 10 minutes.

Flew on an early morning flight late August. Small queue to drop luggage- no more than 20 mins. Straight through security, no queues. The departure lounge itself was very busy though - took ages to find seats and couldn't get in any restaurants/cafes for breakfast.

Georgyporky · 25/09/2022 18:27

We only do this if the flight is at silly o'clock & we don't want to stay at an airport hotel beforehand.
We've been in queues where the staff call forward passengers who are close to departure time - aircraft can't take off if owners of hold luggage aren't on board.

Thanks very much, we won't bother.

Went through last week, it was an 11 am flight and there was a long wait to get to security, at least 30 minutes so either get there in plenty of time or book the fast security.
