Where to stay with a teen in Paris

DD13 and I are treating ourselves to a weekend in Paris in December. We hope to see the main sights, visit a gallery or two and perhaps soak up some Christmas markets.

I don’t know Paris very well at all. Can anyone recommend a safe, easily accessible spot with decent hotels? We would be looking at a nice 4 star, but nothing grander. I speak good French and using the metro is fine for us.

I find that a good 3 star gives you the best choice in Paris. Many hotels don't have a restaurant or a lift to all rooms so can't be a 4star even though they are lovely hotels.

I stayed at Holiday Inn express canal de la villette in May with my teen. www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/hotels/us/en/paris/parlv/hoteldetail

Was really close to lots of restaurants and great vibe as well as close to garden du nord and several metros

I agree with Frenchfancy about 3 star hotels.
The 7th arrondissement is quintessential Paris in every respect. It’s the area around the Eiffel Tower so it’s super convenient yet it doesn’t have a lot of loud nightlife. Hotel Duquesne Eiffel is a lovely hotel and probably only 3 star because it can’t provide accessible rooms.

Thanks so much. I didn’t know that about 3/4 star hotels in Paris. Will look for something characterful in the 7th 🙂

Mama Shelter is very cool

Marais is a wonderful area, great location, and the lovely Hotel Duo is a stone’s throw away from the Pompidou, walking distance to the Louvre, Picasso Museum and more, transport links excellent: www.duo-paris.com.

Other than the Eiffel tower there is nothing really going on in the 7th. Better off in the 4th, 5th or 6th IMO.

Another vote for the Marais (4th), lovely area to explore, cool for teens, easy to get to other parts of Paris on the metro.

I would stay around St. Michel, lively and fun. We got a great AirBnb near the fountain a few years ago when we were travelling with two teens, it was the perfect location.
