It seems like a good idea. I was wondering if:

  1. any mumsnetters had tried it
  2. it was available in the UK

I know people who have used them on domestic flights in the US and they have really liked it but the flight safety rules in the US are different to the ones in Europe and I don't know if European airlines will accept them. Even if it is FAA approved, you'd probably need to check with your airline.

we would use it for a 2 year old travelling on BA between London & Washington.

My main reason for using would be to restrict my dd rather than for safety reasons.

I don't fancy spending the whole flight stopping her standing up.

If she's just turned two she is able to have her own seat. If she is still under 2 BA will give you their own seatbelt extender for you both to use for take off and landing.

BA will likely not let you use this harness as it does not comply with CAA regulations.

Thanks. She is just two.

Having travelled to Oz with a 2 year old at Christmas, this sounds great! We had real problems keeping her in the seat when seatbelt signs on. In the end I persuaded cabin staff to let me use a seatbelt extender with her for emergencies, as she could just wriggle out of the seatbelt on her own seat, and not exactly rocket science for her to open it. I was bitten several times, but at least she was safe! One member of staff on Virgin Blue said she thought restraints like this would eventually be introduced for young children but who knows when or if airlines will let you use them now......
